During presentations, Riders wear a formal costume consisting of:
A black felt tricorn with gold braid, a red and white ribbon on the left-hand side, overlaid with a large, gold button with the arms of King João V in low relief. In the case of Master Riders, in addition to the button, these ribbons are overlaid with a large golden clip.
The quince crop is part of the uniform.
Coat, bordeaux velvet coat with a black collar and gold and black braid. The coat is open at the front and has large gold buttons with the arms of King João V in low relief.
Under the coat, a beige, silk waistcoat that is fitted at the back and has a gold braid and buttons lined with the same fabric as the waistcoat.
Flat spurs in yellow metal with long arms with a triangular cross-section, a straight tip and a rosette. Also with a wide strap at the top of the foot and a square buckle fastened on the outer side of the foot.
Gaiters in black leather with a “V” opening at the front of the knee and are fastened at the side in the traditional “olive leaf” style.
Black, leather ankle boots, with flat soles.
Riding breeches with a high waistband that are fitted at the thigh and have four gold buttons with the arms of King João V above the knee.
Long white silk stockings, extending above the gaiters and covering the knee.
Shirt, long-sleeved collarless shirt.
Shirt pearl plastron around the neck that is crossed at the front and appears under the first button of the waistcoat.
